I’m growing a mustache during the month of November for charity. I would have posted a real photo, but the lighting in my apartment at night makes it impossible to see without taking an uncomfortably close photo of my upper lip. Yum.

Here are the details:

During November I’m growing a mustache. That’s right I’m bringing the Mo back because I’m passionate about tackling men’s health issues and being proactive in the fight against prostate cancer. Actually, you know that “passionate” thing is a lie since I made no mention of an open bar or free food. However, it seems like a great cause, and I get to spend a month growing a mustache.

Also guys, feel free to do join in on this too if you feel like growing a mustache and asking around for donations for men’s butt health.

To donate to my Mo (stupid aussie slang for mustache) you can either:

1. Click this link and donate online using your credit card or PayPal account, or

2. Write a check payable to the ‘Prostate Cancer Foundation’, referencing my Registration Number 1817206 and mailing it to:

                                           Prostate Cancer Foundation
Attn: Movember
1250 Fourth St
Santa Monica, CA, 90401

All donations are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

The money raised by Movember is donated directly to the Prostate Cancer Foundation which will use the funds for high-impact research to find better treatments and a cure for prostate cancer.

Did you know:

Prostate cancer is the most common non-skin cancer in the US with one in six American men developing the disease and more than 28,000 men dying of the disease every year.

African American men and those with a family history of prostate cancer are twice as likely to develop the disease and should have regular annual testing starting at 45. All other men should commence testing at 50.

Prostate cancer is 90% curable if detected and treated early.

I would look really stupid with a mustache.

Thanks for your support,

Tim.

More information is available at http://www.movember.com/.

Movember is proudly grown by Canadian Club and Philips Norelco.

Movember is proud to support the Prostate Cancer Foundation.

Now for the people printing t-shirts with “Palin 2012-2020″ on them, I would beg you to look up “inauguration day” on a calender. That sort of mistake does seem kind of appropriate, though.

This is an early test animation for Mistor made some time before Email. It doesn’t make a lick of sense because it was straight ahead animation done in an evening as a sort of proof of concept and “I made you something” gift for an old girlfriend. The visual language is based heavily off the little cartoons I’d draw into the margins of my overly long and drippy love letters. Those little doodles would eventually spawn some comic strips in my sketchbook which would eventually become the Email cartoon which would eventually meet your mom and fall in love and that’s how you were born!!

If you want me to translate the awful cartoon, here is the epic story:

Mistor seems to be flying about wildly like he used to do a lot until I got lazy around WTF. He comes to a stop, and then he does some sort of awkwardly animated bounce thing. Your guess is as good as mine. He has presumably broken the forth wall here and has seen the viewer, because hearts suddenly appear. Mistor is having an visual hallucination and can see the hearts. He feels threatened by commitment, or perhaps just enjoys being aloof. Maybe he is gay?

He isn’t gay, but that’s a hard sell his love of wieners.

Mistor flees from love. Perhaps this was my subconscious trying to tell me something at the time. Now that Mistor has left the frame, I apparently decided this cartoon needed to make less sense. I introduce my long forgotten character “Robot who chases cookies”. Seriously. He is a shitty little robot who only wants cookies but cannot have any because my parents screwed up something when they raised me and now I have to draw cute little things being disappointed or injured.

Now Mistor flies back in, love in hot pursuit, to eat the cookies. The robot who chases cookies is all alone without any cookies to chase. Fuck you little robot who only wanted some cookies.

Hell if I know.

This video also reminded me that I enjoy Grandaddy

There isn’t too much going on I can really speak on. Work stuff right now is confidential, and my personal life is all complaining and joking about politics. Since I use this site semi-professionally, I don’t feel it is an appropriate venue to claim that John McCain is a Manchurian Candidate (he will assassinate himself), Sarah Palin is having Trig’s super special needs baby, or Obama is going to force my mom to become a devout Muslim with his creepy jedi charisma. I can’t think of a joke about Biden.

Anyway, the economy is exploding and politics is crazy and Ron Paul is wagging his finger at everyone from his stupid blimp while his supporters yell about gold and bootstraps on message boards for Breaking Dawn fan fiction. Lots of great material I won’t get into because I’m afraid some day a potential freedom loving boss will Google me and discover I have a “I hate all the troops!!” magnetic ribbon on my car.

Today I was walking home from getting some lunch, and I saw something I hadn’t seen before. I saw a sweaty, shirtless man running down the street with two shiny, bouncing nipple rings. It occurs to me now this site is probably a fairly regular thing in some places, including Atlanta’s own Piedmont Park, but somehow I have gone this long without witnessing it.

Then it occurred to me that these were very shiny rings. These rings weren’t just pieces of body jewelry this man left in full time. They were recently polished silver nipple rings, glinting in the sun from yards away. Perhaps the guy has an assortment of nipple decorations. Maybe there are formal, casual, and exercise nipple rings? Maybe it isn’t just nipple rings, and he has a whole sexual organ body modification wardrobe for any occasions.

We got our engagement photos taken last week, and that is one of my personal favorites. We’re probably not using that one for the Save The Date card since it looks like a photo for an article on an indie rock band’s sophomore album, but we haven’t quite nailed down which photo that will be just yet.

A lot of other non weddingy stuff is going on.

Work wise, I may possibly get to work on ATHF again soon. Hopefully. JibJab also accepted a pitch for a new series of Sendable greetings that do not feature Mistor. I don’t know when the first one of those will be out the door since I need to write them first, and I’m still working on a Mistor birthday card. That’s even a little delayed because of something else going on I’ll mention in a second. That birthday card could potentially be my last Mistor cartoon for a little while. I’ve got the itch to make a new personal cartoon, but I haven’t quite found the “story” or whatever I do that passes as a plot.

I had surgery yesterday. That was a lot of fun, and I suggest everyone try it. The drugs I mean. The getting cut up while you’re asleep part is no fun.

I’m healing. It wasn’t a big procedure, so I should be back to whatever it is I say I do in a couple of days. I won’t say what I went under the knife for, but in a totally unrelated note: birthday cake scented shampoo is not edible and doesn’t even remotely taste like birthday cake.

My phone broke a few weeks ago, and Sony Erriccson refused to fix it. Somehow it got water damage and voided the warranty without activating the water damage litmus tag in the phone or, more miraculously, me getting it wet. They sent it back with a photo of the water damage and a politely worded “ha ha you’re screwed” letter. I liked that phone a lot, but now I’m all insulted and moody. Since I chose to be an animator and not a profession that can afford things like ‘data plans’, I longingly gazed at iPhone ads while I ordered a Nokia 5310 xtreme dumbphone. Hopefully that’ll show up today. I also lost all my phone numbers, but who calls me anyway?

I bought some paints, brushes, and a few little canvases in what has been turning into an adorable reminder of why I don’t paint. I really suck at this. The first one isn’t done, so I’ll reserve judgment on just how much I suck at this for the time being. I’ve got some other stupid ideas I want to paint to give me more time to practice before I decide if this was a terrible failed experiment or not.

So I found out some serious info since the last time I updated. Crucial. Turns out wedding planning is really awful. I mean not like the punchline to a dead baby joke (A: a pitchfork), but the sort of tedious never ending awful. Like graduate school or that time I went to an open mic and someone performed with an autoharp, sung about her cats, and I was told I couldn’t laugh.

Had I known it would be this way, I would have figured out some way to leisurely plan a mock wedding, propose, and then get married before anyone realized they were offended or unhappy with some aspect of the event. The alternative is eloping, but I don’t think I want to have that conversation with both sets of relatives every family get-together for the remainder of my adult life. Thanks to working at an old folks home and a mental hospital, I also now associate “eloping” with “crazy person running away to buy cigarettes”.

Regardless of all the silly fighting and misunderstandings, this should be a pretty great wedding. I mean for other people. For me it’ll be the best. Except for the mustache part. I wanted everyone, including babies (especially babies), to have to wear a false mustache. So for me this will be the best wedding ever that doesn’t have fake mustaches. For other people it’ll be a great destination wedding that is lacking just a touche of upper lip magic.

I’ve been half-past terrible with the updates, and I really don’t have much in the way of an excuse. Much of the interesting stuff going on in my life is of the family medical drama I’m not the type to share all over the internet.

The JibJab cartoons are still coming along. I believe every cartoon I’ve made for them so far is now currently available to view for free here. You have to pay to send it along to your friends or loved ones or whoever, but I get a cut of that money and frankly, JibJab has been very kind to me. Send Em!

Oh, I am still making some more.

I just got back tonight from Austin, TX where I was a groomsman at a friend’s wedding. This would be my first friend to get hitched. You’re older than you’ve ever been and now you’re even older. Oh, we saw TMBG last week, and they were amazing. Great show.

Also there was a tornado in downtown Atlanta like a mile or two from our place.

Also my name should be in the credits of not just Squidbillies tonight but also Aqua Teen. Huzzah.
