This was for a topic called “Nasty things your EX did”, and I dated a cutter.

Adam Levine and doodling every day

February 28th, 2007 by admin

If you haven’t noticed, I’ve been trying to be more frequent with my postings. Part of that goal has been upping the amount of “doodles” I do.

My old roommate Adam has sort of inspired me to get back into drawing more frequently. He does a doodle-a-day blog, and his skills over the last year have improved significantly. Not to say he sucked before… but he did. He was awful, and I prayed every night he’d just stop. He’s a cruel bastard though, and he kept at it.

In my opinion, good training is the key to good drawing, but your skills can improve significantly by just drawing every day or so. It’s like exercise and drug abuse… at least in the sense that I wind up on the floor in a thick puddle of my own waste when it’s all over.

Here’s a link to Adam’s Doodle Blog and his portfolio. He also sells stuffed animals. You should buy one and tell him to call it “finish your damn thesis”.

If you are looking for inspiration on how you can get into a drawing routine, I’d check out sites like Illustration Friday, sketch blogs, lj communities for doodles, and forums that love stupid MSpaint/drawing threads. Drawing memes are fun, too. Look up the “Draw Batgirl meme” on google and see what else you can find.

Oh… Get a mid-sized WACOM or scan your drawings. Tape a piece of paper over the WACOM tablet if the plastic is too greasy a texture for you. Whatever you do, a mouse isn’t exactly the drawing tool of choice. People do it, but people also dress up like animals and hump each other. That doesn’t make it right.

MaGa Festival 2007

February 28th, 2007 by admin

The Macon Georgia Film and Video festival begins today. Email!! and WTF!? are being screened twice this week, and I’ll be in town sometime before the weekend. There are a lot of films I’m interested in seeing, but I’ve been dragging my feet on actually figuring out the schedule. I can say that I will definitely be at the Saturday show.

Snoop Dogg is going to be at the festival, and I think it’d be awesome to get a photo with him. Winning Best Animation would be nice, too. Hurr.

edit: Oh… Here’s a link to the festival’s website and screening calender.
