My parents came to Savannah to visit me today. They forced me to go on tour since I’ve been to exactly one historical thing in my two years here. That was Halloween and it was a tour about yellow fever. Oh yellow fever, what massive percent of Savannah’s population won’t you wipe out. The tour was alright. I pointed out to my parents along the way where to buy drugs and get robbed, where a girl was raped last semester, where the bus is driving over bodies that were left unearthed when the road was widened, and how “the most haunted building in Savannah” has a really chill bar I hang out in about once a week.

After that we stopped at the apartment to drop off stuffed animals. I’m selling some of Adam’s stuffed animals (lol adimals) at the Mutations craft fair Saturday after next. I’ll also be selling my newest creation: GHOSTIES… and apparently two dozen stuffed dog things my mom made.

We went to Uncle Bubba’s for dinner. That’s the new Paula Dean place on the islands. It’s really touristy, but the food was good. The fries, which I shouldn’t really be eating, were like eating rays of sunlight pouring from the heart of god.

It was an ok day. All that stuff was cool, but I’m dragging on the storyboard for the new cartoon. I need to show my prof something tomorrow night. Right now I’ve got about 1/2 of it, and it’s all layers in a TIF file. I’ve been working directly on the computer with Alias Sketch and my WACOM. I may try doing the whole cartoon with Sketch.

I’m also putting off going to bed. 5 to 6 hours of sleep a day has been the norm. I stay up until I am exhausted and just pass out. Normally I’m a light insomniac so I don’t really trust myself to sit in bed and not get all mopey.

Meet the new janitor

I doubted this project would ever be finished… and honestly there’s a pretty big “bug” in this movie. I’m too tired to fix it. If people notice, they notice.

For this animation, I was part of a group. I provided the audio edit. I cut a 50 minute interview down to a 1 minute story. I created the animatic that most of the camera angles are faithful to. The body animation in the scene with the ruler is mine… blech… I did the lighting (including the projector rig) and provided some obvious visual elements.
