Email Cartoon is finally finished

April 29th, 2005 by lol

The Email!! cartoon is finally finished. The good news is that it is, like I said, finished. The bad news is that I missed two festivals. I don’t believe I can overnight to canada, and the cost to overnight to DC is like $45 bucks plus the entry fee. That’s too much for me. There are plenty of others to try for.

Anyway, here’s the “new” toon:

You can RIGHT CLICK - SAVE AS to download it Some people are only seeing half of it if they click on it normally. Sorry.

Check out the old one linked on the right menu bar to see the difference. I think it looks better.

I’ll put up a proper link to it and all that later. Enjoy.

    Oops

    April 27th, 2005 by lol

I seem to love making these statements on the deadline of my cartoon and then just letting it slip. Everything with the Email cartoon is now inked and markererered. I captured all 250 frames today. If I wasn’t “cheating” (using looping frames and after effects compositing), this thing could have been an ungodly 900 frame monster. I’m not completely lazy. Only a total tard would actually draw every frame in a cartoon like this. Honestly I probably could have snuck about 20 to 50 more frames in there to pretty it up a bit.

Oh. A frame is a single drawing for the nonanimation types. I composite all my stuff seperately, so I draw the ball guy on once piece of paper and the computer on a different one. The frames are on different pieces of paper, too. This makes for a lot of work in post, but a lot less work when I’m drawing and more freedom in post.

So right now I’m correcting levels and photoshopping all 250 frames. I’m about half done. I have to have this finished by Friday even if I have to pull an all nighter. I have some festivals with submission deadlines of April 30 and May 1.

    Diets suck

    April 20th, 2005 by lol

Without much fan fair, I started a diet about two weeks ago. I was tired all the time and noticing some symptoms of my high blood pressure returning. I don’t want to be a beef mess, and I am not going back on the drugs. Everything below is about my diet. There’s no reason for anyone to read this shit.

I have a jogging routine, and I watch my eating habits religiously. The jogging helps, but I’ve had to reel myself in a bit. I was pushing myself too hard the first week, and I may have hurt my knee. I knocked it back to a much more sensible every-other-day schedule for an out-of-shap shlob like me.

As it stands now I’ve made it past the 4-7 day period where you feel like you’re starving all day. Now I’m at that creepy point where I’m not hungry even when I really should be. I’m not trying to starve myself. The jogging is coming along. I’m not running a mile non-stop, but I may be there in two to three weeks.

I didn’t weigh myself to start because that shit is depressing. All I have to go by is a scale at the Publix I hopped on wearing all my clothes a few weeks ago. Assuming my clothes, shoes, keys, and assorted crap weigh a pound or two, I’ve lost about 8 pounds give or take. That’s a lot for two weeks, but this is the first two weeks. After this it goes sooooo slow.

    I hate diets.

    final version Email cartoon status

    April 19th, 2005 by lol

I finished the last of the re-inking today on the e-mail cartoon. All that is left drawing-wise is to create some sort of title card and make handmade end credits. This would take about 10 minutes, but I just couldn’t do it today. I’m not having great day.

So I should be doing the aformentioned animation and then capturing my frames on Thursday. If all goes well, the whole thing could be wrapped by this weekend. Hurray.

I have a list of festivals I’m going to be submitting to. In general, the entry fees are lower than I expected. I’ll be entering several festivals I have little faith will actually show my work. I think it could be worth the ten bunks to make the jury watch a giant yelling penis.

    Big Money Tim

    April 19th, 2005 by lol

ShopSCAD took all the non-phallic stuffed animals I had left, and they are now on sale to the general public in a real life brick-and-mortar store. They gave me money for them and said if they sell, they may want more. I can’t argue that insane clown logic.

So if you want Rarr the devil cat, Yellie the Yeller, Tabor the awful lion, or Bahk! the heartbat, get down to historic Savannah. There is only about a 90% chance that if you are reading this that you’re 1800 to 600 miles or so from there! Get on it guys!
